Ex-Rental was born of frustration with the current state of pop music.

Tired of the vapid production-line 'pop' filling the airwaves, and finding no solace in the so-called 'alternative' sector of the charts, Sean and Wendy began making the kind of pop THEY wanted to hear - the kind that might make others want to dance, sing, laugh, cry, dress up, make up, start a band, start a riot!

And with so much diversity in their record collections (disco, new wave, electronica, R&B, glam, Motown, the avant-garde and beyond), Ex-Rental decided to throw all these influences - and more - into their eclectic pop mix, to avoid being anything like the one-trick ponies so prevalent in (and even outside) the mainstream.

Perhaps there's hope yet for pop in the 21st century...
