Bio
Sometimes a good band becomes an incredible band. The Specimens are proof of it. Their forthcoming album, The Quick And The Deaf, is going to surprise and amaze a lot of people. Every track is a short, witty, glorious, rock classic. All killer, no filler.
Maybe they got tired of watching their friends travelling the world to packed houses. Maybe they just needed to spend the time with a great producer (All hail Lindsay Gravina at Birdland!). Maybe they just changed brand of coffee. We don’t know, and don’t care. We’re just glad to have the chance to be associated with it.
Formed in the back streets of St Kilda in 2001, the Specimens have built a sizeable following around Australia with a minimum of fuss and gimmicks but a maximum of energy and volume. They’ve supported a who’s who of great rock’n’roll bands (Datsuns, MC5, Jet, Modey Lemon, Deep Reduction, Dozer, Young Heart Attack, Magic Dirt, Rose Tattoo, Turbonegro, Hellacopters, and many more). Their debut, Fast & Loose, was album of the week in Beat and InPress.
