Nick Cave and Warren Ellis - The Road

Review by Paul Clarke

Two inspired musicians, equally sensitive to each other and the demands and possibilities of storytelling through soundtracks.»

Moderat - Moderat

Review by Paul Clarke

Studied up close each track is excellent, with Modeselektor’s rougher sounds and Apparat’s smoother strands interweaving into textures which often make them feel like fondling chunks of concrete in silk gloves. But, just like concrete, when you stand back and consider ‘Moderat’ as a whole it can all seem a bit claustrophobic.»

Etienne Jaumet - Night Music

Review by Paul Clarke

Jaumet might have Carl Craig hovering over him but he’s not entirely in his shadow.»

55979

Buraka Som Sistema - Fabriclive.49

Review by Paul Clarke

The CD might come in the compilations' trademark plush packaging, but the music burned onto it is as rough and ready as anything you’d find on a bootlegged mixtape with a photocopied cover.»
