Biography:
Formed in May 2001, atari:doll started out after Sy’s previous band split and Jem and Kat's band had also split months before. Sy knew Jem and Kat from their previous incarnation. The three knew they wanted to put a band together as they shared the same love for the same music. He spoke with them and they immediately began to assemble a band. They auditioned various bass players and drummers but none fitted the mould. Then by chance Jem and Kat stumbled up on Chris at a local venue and began chatting. They asked him to attend a practice and they immediately began to gel. But they still had no drummer.
The band had two drummers waiting for auditions and then Adam contacted Sy for an audition. He was asked to come to a local jam night and play with some other musicians and immediately the band knew he was the right drummer. He was taken on soon after. The band started to practice in late June, playing some original material that Jem and Kat already had from their previous band and also some newer songs that they had started. And so came 'Queen for a Day', 'Numb' and much later 'Clone' (originally called ‘You Make Me Sick’. This was the start of atari:doll.
