Cosy Cosy

Bio

Let us take you back to January 2002, to the launderette where it all started when

*Bassist/singer Jo Duvet of Agebaby/TSH/Launderette fame
*The Buzz are Actually Mods/Product vocalist and guitar-star Dominicpunk
*Drummer and self-styled PR guru Phil

climbed into a washing machine with a fabric-conditioning dose of Blondie, New Order, The Pixies, Velvet Underground and the Jesus and Mary Chain… and emerged as a Cosy Cosy duvet. Bound together by a shared longing for a washing machine all of their own, but unable to afford the payments, the three decided that the only way to prove their worth and claim the recognition due to them was take their unique brand of boy-girl bangy-wangy to the masses. And so they assembled a formidable arsenal of spring-loaded pop songs, each one bristling with sweet, spine-chilling harmonies, scuzzy guitars, taut and snapping drums and yeah-ooh-yeahs aplenty, and launched their Cosy Cosy mission…

Thought that pop music, that could make you leap around the room and sing along and smile from ear to ear and play it again and again, was dead? Then take a listen to this. - R*E*P*E*A*T fanzine

An abundance of gigs to showcase their cool and quirky offbeat sound to the world was the obvious first step, and the early days saw Cosy Cosy satisfying their musical addiction on stages across their local scene. The band weren’t far into their live history, which includes sharing the stage with Peel favorites The Exiles and the hotly-tipped Applicators, when they developed a loyal following of Cosy fans from all across of the musical spectrum, who showed up to every gig to sing along and dance like crazy. A buzz was clearly developing and that Cosy sound soon spread across the continent: their August 2003 self-released debut demo ‘Three Piece Suite’ is currently being played in Indie clubs across Europe. Closer to home, the three-track cd received rave reviews from Drownedinsound.com and other independent sites, and led to the band’s appearance on Small Town America’s “Public Service Broadcast #1” and on the NME-hyped R*E*P*E*A*T Records “Fear of a Black Kennett” compilation for Love Music, Hate Racism. Not long after this demo track ‘About a boy about a girl’ made the John Peel playlist.

Cosy Cosy have taken noise-vox to the far edge of perfection and pushed it over… a yelping, whooping, head-over heels-runaway-train joyous gem of a CD - Drownedinsound.com

So, that was 2003. Now for 2004, when the band will release a single through R*E*P*E*A*T records, gig frenziedly up and down the country and convert the nation to a Cosy Cosy life, write yet more perfect pop songs, play Wembley Arena dressed as badgers, abolish shopping on Sunday, and maybe one day afford not just a washing machine but a tumble dryer all of their own. We predict a Cosy Cosy future of adrenaline and harmony-fuelled world domination, cruising on the ultimate kick that is live music. Cosy Cosy are a one-step solution to the strongest fun addiction and the only boredom antidote you’ll ever need, with a one-off quirky contagious-ness that you know you can’t help loving. So come on and get Cosy Cosy on the three-piece suite.
