Formative Years
Five years ago, whilst watching the film Fargo for the millionth time, the film’s mysterious character, Reiley Diefenbach, struck a chord with film fanatic and guitarist, Kenneth Sarup; “Who is he? Why is he so annoying?”
A few months previously, Kenneth had advertised in the Danish music press looking for fellow musicians to join his mission to get a band together. He found a half English half Danish bassist called Allan Mattsson from a tiny island in the east of Denmark, a keyboard player named Lasse Lyngbo, a drummer, Stefan Gejsing, and the guitarist, Nicolaj Stroyer Christopherson.
Each member of the new band came from different parts of Denmark, bringing their own character to the group. Then, two weeks after the five got together, they began recording their debut album live in the studio. That was Autumn 1999, and because it sounded intriguing, the band decided to call themselves DIEFENBACH.
