Bio
Band members names - role in the band:
Caroline Nesbø: Songwriter, Guitar, Vocals
Gavin Baker: Songwriter, Guitar, Vocals
Hywell Dinsdale: Drummer
Ian Scanlon: Bass and vocals
Brief Band History:
The 'band' began when Gavin met Caroline and decided to be 'close' friends. After much playing guitar together Alasdair MacClean of the Clientele recorded Jet Johnson with Howard Monk of Billy Mahonie on the drums. The track will be on a forthcoming compilation album and a single is also planned for later this year. The first Jet Johnson gig occurred in August 1999 when Gavin played alone supporting Songs: Ohia in London, Caroline was in Canada. The second gig was due to occur on July 23rd supporting the Relict but Gavin fell off a scooter and broke his hand. The gig will now hopefully go ahead in August.
Influences:
Caroline listened to alot of hard and dark Norwegian gothic music throughout her childhood. Gavin listened to the more peaceful sound of English folk rock. And of course there is the more mundane: beatles, black sabbath, and so on Both extensively read science fiction and this has a massive influence on how they see their lives and how their lives fit in to where modern life is taking us.
Life changing albums
Caroline: The Cure - Pornography taught me that magnificent things can come out of severe depression.
Motorpsycho - Demon Box taught me that magnificent things can come out of severe aggression.
Aerial M - songs from the shark-cage. taught me that magnificent things can come out of Dave Pajo
Gavin: Bob Dylan's 'Bringing It All Back Home' album: I was at home aged 9 or 10 playing lego listening to subterranean homesick blues as it was fast and then I played the b-side: four long acoustic pieces and I thought: yeah: words....
Jimi Hendrix - 'Are You Experienced?' and 'Axis Bold As Love' double mid price cassette: I bought on holiday aged 11. The Guitar playing, sounds like he isn't using a guitar but it is straight from his head.
Captain Beefheart - 'Trout Mask Replica': My father borrowed it from a weird librarian he worked with when I was 15, it was laughable, I thought it was so bad... and then gradually you play it more and more and you start to hum things and see the intricacies and you realise that it is the most inventive and intense guitar album ever made.
Tom Waits - 'Heart of Saturday Night': it's so cheesy and all lovey
