Kioki was working as a cocktail waiter in a Kewpie Doll bar in downtown Tokyo when in walked two Dutch gentlemen, Mr Ridderhof and Mr Garnefski, two self confessed obsessives with all things Japanese. They got talking over saki and sapporo chasers and Kioki spoke of his music and his desire to get out there and become a plastic fantastic superstar…..Kioki dreamt of being the first Kewpie Doll to break into the mainstream music scene.

Mr Ridderhof and Mr Garnefski were enchanted by Kioki and asked to hear his music – liquid honey flowed from the speaker system and it was at that moment that an honourable and happy partnership was formed.
