Ten Grand

Bio

"An angular and often deranged magical racket - as if Idlewild had stuck to the Captain route instead of cosying up the the mainstream."
Kerrang!

Ten Grand were a post-hardcore/punk four-piece from Iowa; they were called Vida Blue from 1998 'til 2002, when legal matters (and a little sum of money) saw them change their name. The line-up was Matt Davis on guitar and vocals, Zach Westerdahl on bass, Joel Anderson on guitar and vocals, and Bob Adams on drums.

The band played the UK in 2003, alongside the likes of Truman's Water and Cat On Form. On August 10 2003, though, frontman Davis passed away unexpectedly; the band were due to play Europe again, but the remaining members ceased all Ten Grand activity in wake of the singer's death. Davis suffered a brain haemorrhage.

The band's sole Southern Records album, This Is The Way To Rule, was released in 2002. Click for link.

For fans of: At The Drive-In (later material), Nation of Ulysses, The Blood Brothers, Circus Lupus, VSS.
