Bio
The Fruit Bats line-up is based around Chicago singer/songwriter Eric Johnson and keyboardist/bassist/mandolin player Gillian Lisee. Johnson began recording in the mid-1990s on his four-track - eventually getting together a trio of people that would become the Fruit Bats.
The trio's 2001 debut was called Echolocation and was released on the small indie label, Perishable. By July 2003 the Fruit Bats were now a duo and were signed to Sub Pop.
Their second effort, Mouthfuls, is a beatiful 10 track journey through the world of folk/rock singer-songwriting. Perfectly crafted melodies and vocals combine with an array of instrumentation to make this one of the most criminally overlooked works of the year so far.
