Bio
The New Shapes are some things new that you've heard before, but not together
at the same time. Formed for personal reasons, persisted for other reasons,
executed for public reasons. The New Shapes are a guitar band who listen to all
kinds of music, like many people do, but with a curious understanding of what's
right and what's wrong. And like most people The New Shapes believe that their
way is the best way, while other artists miss the point. Mark R (singer) of The
New Shapes believes that it's just like standing in a queue at a fairground
ride... "It's our turn. can we have a go now please?"
The Story So Far: The New Shapes have played London more than enough times to
gain a familiarity with themselves and what they want to do. They recorded with
Liam Watson at his Toerag studios in East London, garnering much attention for
their exceptional songwriting talent. In August 2005 they released their
striking debut single 'You got me running round' to great acclaim, scoring XFM
playlisting and impressing Claire Sturgess enough for her to choose it as her
'record of the week'. And with the NME catching on to what Internet fanzines
and forums have been raving about for months, THE NEW SHAPES are most certainly
moving into new territory. Go and see them before the queues get too long.
The New Shapes are Mark Roberts (vocals and guitar), David O'Connor (guitars),
Euan Hinshelwood (bass and keys) and Adam Lambert (drums).
