The Rebel

Bio

The Rebel a.k.a. B.R. Wallers has previously played at a show for the Stuckists, alongside stuckist poet, Sexton Ming... So to find him here at an event that brings art in the painting and - paint less - varieties together under one roof with music and film is something of an achievement, no? He can usually to be found up-front with the Country Teasers, Guided Missile's "Evil country band from Edinburgh". Although strictly speaking, the Country Teasers and indeed, The Rebel, aren’t all that 'evil' so much as rare 'punk' cross breed.

This is where The Rebel's songs take their lead, for they are nothing if not mutant cross breeds. Taking on electronica, punk and yes, some country, they are played really simply with raw-sounding guitar, a drum machine, a few layers of scratchy noise and synth and a heavy wash of deep'n'raspy vocals. The sound is something between Half Man Half Biscuit, Calvin Johnson and Wesley Willis and is definately always worth your time.
