The Shills

Bio

Forged out of a sense of shared frustration and lack of purpose, The Shills were formed by brothers Tom and Olly Yates and childhood allies Dickon Collinson and Brian Zielinski-Smith. Six months into their musical collaboration they enlisted the talents of Rob D'Ath and set about creating an engaging, evocative and compelling sound. The Shills seek to combine the subtlety and poetry of The Smiths, with the vitriolic passion of the Manics, and believe they will soon be catapulted out of their emasculating surroundings and into the minds of many.

Starting with gigs around Cambridge in 2006, they subsequently recorded a demo, The Flightpath Sessions, which led to radio play and gigs supporting New York's Five O'clock Heroes, Leeds based Kid Id and south London's finest, Johnny Panic.

They began the new year on a high, headlining a regional showcase to Columbia and spent the early months of 2007 honing their sound and composing new material, before they travelled to the south coast this summer to record their live single. These recordings feature a re-working of crowd favourite 'Raison D'etre', forlorn diatribe 'Lad And Girl Love' and the raucous 'Icon of Degeneration'.

This hugely ambitious and entertaining outfit intend to tour the UK in the early part of 2008 and find a bigger stage to momentarily vent their collective frustrations and briefly experience an otherwise forgotten sense of purpose.
