The Sound

Bio

The Sound formed in South London in 1979. They consisted of Adrian Borland (vocals, guitar), Graham Bailey (bass), Bi Marshall (keyboards) and Mike Dudley (drums) and signed to Korova Records, a post-punk offshoot of Warner Brothers.

Three critically acclaimed albums, Jeopardy(1980), From The Lion's Mouth(1981), where Marshall was replaced by Colvin Mayers, and All Fall Down(1982).

Post-Korova, the band signed to Statik and released a mini-album, Shock Of Daylight followed by three more long players, Heads And Hearts(1985), double live album In The Hothouse(1986) and Thunder Up (1987) on Belgian label PLay It Again Sam, before splitting up shortly afterwards.

Adrian Borland began a solo career and recorded five albums. He was however plagued by mental illness and died in thev early hours of April 26th 1999 after throwing himself in front of a train at Wimbledon Station. Colvin Mayers died of an AIDS-related illness on Boxing Day 1993. Mike Dudley and Graham Bailey both retired from music after the band's split.
