Bio
Formed barely a year ago, Steve Lamacq has already been playing both their debut single and their new single on his 'Radio 1' and 'BBC6Music' shows, inviting the blooms into the studio for a chin-wag as part of his 'new favourite band' section. After that the boys went on to win 'Fresh meat' on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show, which in turn led to regular airplay on various Radio 1 and BBC6 music shows. The band also featured in the top 10 of Channel 4's 'Best New British Bands Showcase', recieving more than 24,000 votes, won a record of the day slot 3 times as well as playing to a packed out audience in Manchester at last year's In The City 2005. Even though the boys had only been together a matter of months, a debut single Politics & Cigarettes was quickly released on Fiction/Polydor records to coincide with their 14 date club NME tour, and to their surprise the record sold out in shops after just one week.
The Blooms spent most of the summer writing and recording before embarking on a succesfull Barfly Tour and securing a headline slot on the "Jim Beam Rising Stage" at Leicester's Summer Sundae festival.
