Nicola Roberts - Cinderella's Eyes
Out of all the girls in Girls Aloud, you'd think Nicola was the innocent and the quiet one. Well after you have listened to her debut solo album 'Cinderella's Eyes' you'd know that Nicola is far from innocent and has actually got something to say. In the song 'I' she expresses her times in Girls Aloud "I don't like nasty words, they hurt me like you never know, but don't think I won't put on a smiley face and do the show." Of course, after years of being bullied by the press about her ginger hair and being awfully pale, she wanted to rise above it and tell the world she doesn't care what you think about her anymore.

The one song that stands out from the rest, is 'Sticks + Stones' which only consists of her voice and a piano. It's an emotional heartfelt song about people calling her ugly and her experience with drink and depression. "To young to buy my own bottle of vodka so I'd beg the driver please I need another. How funny that I was too young for so many things, yet you thought I'd cope with being told I'm ugly." Nicola spoke out about this song and said "I had to feel like I would say and mean every single one of these lyrics. I’d never say that in a million years, why would I put it down just because it rhymes? It’s as simple as this: I’ve been given an opportunity to make the album I want to make, so I’ve absolutely put every last bit of heart and soul into it." Well Nicola, you did the right thing. This is what being a solo artist is all about.
'Beat Of My Drum' is the most unusual song on the album, with it being her debut single and it's unusual beats. People will either love this song or hate it. 'Lucky Day' is a rather nice catchy pop tune, and different from the rest of the album.
Some of the rest of the tracks is a bit disappointing I have to say. The consistency of the album is unusual, but overall it is a good album for a debut.
