Drake - Take Care

laurejmilner by Lauren Milner
Drake manages to let out his vent up frustration about an ex-girlfriend who has replaced him for another man on the majority of this record. His language, for one, is an example of this with repeats of the 'n' word and offensive references to women; ' . It seems hip hop has become soft and sensitive, rather than powerful and opportunistic. Exceptions to the 'same old same old' are tracks 'Makes Me Proud' and 'Take Care', both collaborations with the two biggest hip hop/r 'n' b female artists at the moment; Nicki Minaj and Rihanna. It seems that without the help of vocals from these artists, as well as a sample of The XX's 'Intro', the rest of the tracks all seem to merge into one and form a blur of morbid droning rap that has no real spark or originality.
