Cloud Nothings - Attack on Memory

tphrthms by Christopher T. Sharpe
“I thought that I’d be more than this”. Ditching the power-pop and getting down with Steve Albini might be the best decision Dylan Baldi ever makes as Cloud Nothings. The return of this breed of disaffected, distorted fundamentally 90s grunge, emo, post-hardcore, blerghhhhh…. what have you, is strikingly prescient. Teen angst updated for twenty-something isolation, post-2008 pseudo-existentialism for those who have received an impossible cheque for the insufficiencies and excess of previous generations. Cloud Nothings music doesn’t provide the answers [what answers? where?] but it possesses a significant manifestation of the response.
