If the press release accompanying this record is to be believed, Disoma fuse “Fugazi’s angular riffs with a Billy Mahonie-esque structure” and Escanna offer “slices of classy punked up emo rock reminiscent of Unwound or Cable”. And the press release is darn right too as like the aforementioned groups, Disoma take the listener a little by surprise building from the child’s soundbite to a full aural onslaught which also evokes elements of Aereogramme.

Fortunately for the listener (and Disoma), Escanna don’t let the side down with their two offerings. Again there’s the occasionally stabbing guitars and pulsating of the bass, but this is accompanied by vocals. However the vocals are pretty subtle (I for one couldn’t understand a word on ‘Idiot Proof’). But there lies Escanna’s strength. One message could be gleaned from the lyrics fair enough, yet through using the vocals in conjunction with the rest of the musical backdrop provides a completely different medium for interpretation.

A near perfect combination to lead the way to the next musical generation.
