Good vocalists with shit bands

ThirstyDog [Edit] [Delete] 09:49, 27 February '13

Let's reverse the "Good bands with poor vocalists" thread & name good singers let down by their bandmates.

I saw Dylan live in 2011 and whilst I've never really liked him & he just phones it in these days, the experience would've been improved immeasurably if he hadn't saddled himself with a set of dull session musos - if he had a band like peak-era Bad Seeds or Tom Waits' backing band, it would've been a much better gig.

And talking of Mr Cave, watched the live stream of his recent LA show and his current band aren't a patch on the Bad Seeds when Harvey & Bargeld were on board.

Also I always felt Jeff Buckley would've been better served by a more imaginative backing band - saw him live in 1992 & whilst he was an astonishing vocalist, the dull workmanlike plod of his band spoiled it.
