British 'alternative' music is in "rude health" right now - let's make a playlist

sean [Edit] [Delete] 23:39, 10 October '13

18months or so ago we made a DiS playlist of the best British music around to counter how terrible the BRITS nominations were (remember? http://open.spotify.com/user/seaninsound/playlist/71GOfxniSOR4iQ8B84hNSE ). Feels like, despite loads of American acts dominating the attention of some media/fans, that there's a really interesting bunch of acts coming from these shores. I know there pretty much always are great acts, but I think now, whilst the mainstream continues to pimp terrible EDM-pop, the underground/stuff DiSsers like, is particularly good right now. Next year could be pretty exciting, but before that there are year-end plaudits and all that stuff, which I think a lot of British acts could dominate. Maybe I'm wrong?

Given that the Mercury is coming up (which has some good stuff on it. And you can win VIP tickets here: http://bit.ly/MercuryWIN ) and our Neptune prize (not a terrible list, is it? http://bit.ly/Neptune13 ) I thought it might be timely and a nice idea to make another playlist of all the best British stuff around at the moment, including tips for next year and that sort of thing.

I've made a start - what would you add/change?
