It's one of those rare songs I feel expresses emotions/feelings that language can't describe. The violin parts (or whatever instrument is used) around the middle and near the end always give me goose-pimples, very haunting. I can see the influence it's had on Radiohead too. Took me a while to appreciate though. I Believe in You is also one of the most incredible songs I've ever heard - that alone makes Spirit of Eden one of the best albums of all time. The Rainbow is also indescribably good. How these albums went on unnoticed fairly recently is a mystery. They are the anthems of the universe.

What's your favourite song from these two albums (and which album do you like more)? I think Laughing Stock is slightly better overall, although it's brilliance is not as immediately obvious as Spirit of Eden's. Once you get into it, it's also easier to listen to. Spirit of Eden is beyond amazing but like with Joy Division's Closer, I can only listen to it when I'm in a certain mood.
