People in crowds at gigs being grumpy

Stuzza666 [Edit] [Delete] 15:46, 29 June '15

So I have been to two gigs in the two weeks (Faith No More and Mogwai) and both times I noticed this total lack of allowing people to get past, standing stock still with arms folded and just generally being stupid and slightly aggressively territorial about their "spot". I don't get - well I guess I do get it, a bit, as I'm tall and big - but where's the camaraderie, man?? (Esp at a metal gig) To be clear I was NOT doing that aggressive charging to the front thing, or turning up late to get a spot, or doing anything to be a nuisance - it was actually pretty near the back on both occasions and I was moving around to buy beer, find friend in crowd etc. I know this sounds like I'm having a little whingey cry BUT my mate went to Ride recently and said he noticed the same thing. He says it's because the crowds are all older and they're now stock brokers who only go to a gig once a year. Is this the answer? Or is it:

1. Because all the gigs were at the Roundhouse (they were)?
2. Just a London thing?
3. The end of society?
4. Something else?
