The Go-Betweens. An appreciation/discussion thread.

BMS1 [Edit] [Delete] 20:39, 28 November '15

I've got tickets for Robert Forster in a few weeks and so I've had some Go-Betweens albums on my headphones recently. Favourite song/album? How did you discover them? A memorable gig?

I only heard of them after The NME reviewed their Best Of album in the late 90s. I never really heard them mentioned much when growing up. An obvious thing to say but it's brilliant Best Of compilation. I had it on repeat for months. Even putting Lee Remick at the end of it was a great touch. My favourite album is probably Liberty Belle and favourite song The Wrong Road. I only saw them after their reformation and loved their Shepherds Bush return gig and The Barbican gig with a string section was amazing.

They easily had some more great albums ahead of them. Shame. Rachel Worth was a fantastic comeback album. Great band. If you haven't heard their stuff do check them out.
