1989, another Summer

midnightpunk [Edit] [Delete] 23:23, 5 May '16

Public Enemy dipped in my opinion despite absolutely loving It Takes A Nation Of Millions.... Fear Of A Black Planet was too funky, too ambitious and they'd taken in their own hype on that album and it kinda showed despite it still being (quite) great yet a mild let down.

Showing my age (again) but 1989 was the only time, musically and otherwise real revolution actually seemed possible, Tiananmen Square and musically too. So, Pauls' Boutique, 3 Feet High & Rising, The Stone Roses, Playing With Fire (1988, but hey Revolution was there too!). Technique, the real swan song(s) from New Order as they gave way to the Rave fade. Doolittle, the beginning of Slacker right there, Bleach, that E.P you all love!. On Fire, The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste, STREETCLEANER, hell, even a nod for The Real Thing!

As Summer kicks in 2016 music memories come back. Rinsing an album through a Summer is a fantastic thing. Top 1989...
