Remember, kids: don't believe everything that you read. We may have reported that the Pixies had no plans to record a new album back in July (link), but now it seems they do! Musicians, eh? Crazy.
Frank Black - singer and bald gentleman - has told NME.com that the reunited four-piece will begin work on a new album in 2007. It'll be the band's first new album since Trompe Le Monde. That came out in 1991. I WAS ELEVEN!
Black said some things to a website that isn't this one:
"We're rehearsing in January, if we can persuade Kim to come out of her house. We offered to go to her but we figured if we book the rehearsals she'll show up."
Kim, of course, is Kim Deal. Deal and Black haven't exactly agreed on the best course of action for the band since their we-need-some-money reunion a while back. Black continued:
"Since we got back together we've played almost everywhere we can. I know we like playing and everyone likes touring together, so to keep doing that and not record anything is kind of like being a county fair band. We don't want to do that, so the only thing we can do is become a vital band again. So it's just a matter of doing it, I guess."
Another Pixies best-of album is planned for the new year. Yes, another one. Like we've got money to burn...
