Watch: Lightspeed Champion, Arctic Monkey, Ipso Facto, 'Fred Les' play one-off covers show
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly January 23rd, 2008

White Heat at Madame Jojo’s is a regular stop-off for the lacquered hacks of Drowned in Sound, reeling us in for a night out majority of Tuesdays with its potent mixture of drink, sweat, girls and dark. It’s got a good record collection too, and last night it added a guest-soaked live performance from Lightspeed Champion to its annals, as Dev Hynes rolled up for an impromptu album launch party.

Behold, ‘The Pun Lovin’ Criminals’: Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, Ox.Eagle.Lion.Man head honch and tabloid-christened Fred Les, Victoria Smith and Samantha Valentine of Ipso Facto, Semi-Finalists’ Ferry Gouw and Joe Edwards from the Rascals joining Hynes for a covers set of indie-disco classics. Which?

‘C'mon C'mon' - the Von Bondies
'Slow Hands' - Interpol
'The Rat' - the Walkmen
'Get Free' - the Vines
'NYC' - Interpol
'Reptilia' - the Strokes

“Who wants to hear some indie?” was the motley’s unashamed opening gambit; find footage and photos below courtesy of White Heat's Matthew Hall.
