A little bit o' business for your working lunch...
Music Zone - the shop that tries to out-do Fopp with its cheapo CD flogging - has bought up 41 former MVC outlets, following the latter chain's sale just before Christmas.
The move sees Music Zone reach over 100 stores nationwide, and expand into southern areas - it was previously primarily based in the north.
MVC was owned by Woolworths, but split in summer 2005, and subsequently filed for bankruptcy claiming that supermarkets and the internet were to blame. The Music Zone purchase means that over half of MVC's 700 employees will keep their jobs.
MVC still has 23 stores available for sale, should anyone be interested.
