Pop Simon No. 1, aka Simon Fuller (he of S Club fame), is proceeding with plans to stage a global event, where winners from different countries will compete against each other in a Eurovision-style contest. Will Young and US winner Kelly Clarkson are both expected to take part in the show, which is expected to be broadcast around the New Year.
Pop Simon No. 2, aka Simon Cowell (he of high waistband and bonking ugly 'glamour' models fame) has also stated that a celebrity version of the competition will happen in the near future. But Cowell has ruled out an appearance by Geri Halliwell: "We have banned Geri. We've got enough people who can actually sing for the show."
DiScuss: Do any DiS readers really follow Pop Idol? Does anyone think that the show's ever-growing profile will bring about an end to any decent music in the singles charts? Will the show ever produce another group as good as Girls Aloud?
