the new wooden shjips album comes with an exclusive compilation cd put together by the band featuring tracks by, loop, the heads, sun araw, magic lantern, jacuzzi boys, teenage panzerkorp, and more... with 'dos' wooden shjips deftly escape 'second album syndrome' by covering absolutely no new ground whatsoever. sound like a bad thing? have you heard the first album?! 'dos' is basically a continuation of their self-titled debut, which is to say a very good thing. more effects-heavy, slow-burn psychedelia; more kraut-driven drum beats; more distorted vocals and layers of feedback, all wrapped up in the type of sleeve that hasn't been seen since the monkees 'head' in 1968. 'same meat, different gravy' as one south-london punk outfit might say.......release date: 04/05/2009
