jon fratelli's debut solo album is called 'psycho jukebox' and like any jukebox worth its salt it's chock full of the kind of solid gold easy action that makes you want to smile broadly, chant dumbly, dance sleazily, sing sweetly, grapple sweatily, drum manically, scream breathlessly, shout raucously, and throw the windows wide to annoy the neighbours. it bursts out of the speakers with a velocity and a melodic purpose that is vital and new and now. 'psycho jukebox' marks something of a new beginning for one of scotland's most prolific and talented songwriters, while simultaneously bolstering his credentials as a classic british songwriter in the mould of ray davies or steve marriott or even pete townsend.
