Halo Halo - Halo Halo

Review by Russell Warfield

A record which, for all the snap and zip of its basic conceits, becomes quite bloated by its halfway mark. »

Hyper-melodic collective pop ecstasy from south Londoners Halo Halo. Having formed 3 years ago, Halo Halo have since traveled the world sucking up influence and experience from as far flung as the Arctic Circle to South Korea. There's a heterogeneous nature to their collective endeavour, pulling in locked-in grooves picked out from the remains of a post-punk / folk rock inbreeing to call-and-response vocalisations that wrap a rich world-tapestry around what are, in the end, some very catchy hooks. An abundance of colour, of joy is splashed liberally all over what is a great debut record.
