I admit - I am an Ani DiFranco fan, and her brand of urban folk really appeals to me. So imagine how pleased I was to hear there was a similar artist playing the same kinda thing... and they were from the London area!

Emma McGlynn is a force unto herself armed with her acoustic guitar, yet the influence of the aforementioned Ani is undeniable and, in some parts, unavoidable. Vocally in tracks such as 'Whole Heap' you can't help but hear early DiFranco tracks like 'Out Of Range', however she is far from being a tribute act. 'Impatience', for example, puts the angsty venom aside and produces something more beautiful than Gemma Hayes could ever manage! Throughout, Emma goes from heart-breaking ('Kamikaze') through to breathtakingly beautiful ('You In A Room') on a continual emotional rollercoaster.

This young lady puts her full emotion into every moment of every song, which strengthens what is already a great debut album. I hear that live she is even more sensational - if that is indeed the case, the future of female acoustic rock could well be right here, right now!
