Hidden in Plain View

Life in Dreaming

Label: Drive-Thru Release Date: 14/03/2005

7902
-Raz- by Raziq Rauf March 16th, 2005

Proper ‘mo: strong staccato rhythms with melody driven, heartfelt vocals. Wonderful. Wonderful. This is the very reasonable indeed debut record from New Jersey's Hidden In Plain View. There is nothing remarkable or quirky about it; no violins or electric beats. It's often what works the best.

The soaring and searing vocals really do cut through the air like a hot knife; the arpeggio-riddled guitars stop and start every second like a bad heartbeat; the kick drum is being pounded at the back like a drunken fuck; the end of each song saunters off like a crap girlfriend before coming back for one last fling. I think I've just covered a description of the sound and the lyrical content in one. Wonderful. Job done.
