The Martini Henry Rifles

Slash The Seats

Label: FF Vinyl Release Date: 31/01/2005

lsteinberg by Lianne Steinberg January 25th, 2005

Garage noise merchants The Martini Henry Rifles have had to make some significant decisions over the past two years.

Prior to the release of their debut album, ‘Superbastard’, they lost their drummer, Dave Bryon. Without affecting the hot-burning smack of their songs, they’ve become a trio of crazed freaks with a drum machine. With this new freedom, there’s more room for experimenting with breaks and beats. Hence this single features **Culprit One – the DJ Shadow of Wales – dropping samples as all of the Martini’s yelp all over the track.

So much has been made of indie becoming more danceable, thanks to the likes of Franz Ferdinand and The Rapture, but that’s school disco stuff compared to this fierce, storming dirty, pounding snatch of mischief.
