Do Me Bad Things

What's Hideous?

Label: Must Destroy Music Release Date: 28/03/2005

7920
agibbons by Anthony Gibbons March 23rd, 2005

The nine piece Do Me Bad Things share the same label as The Darkness, and also share a love of the flamboyant, sleazy rock guitar flourishes, and a sense of the ridiculous.

'What's Hideous'? is most certainly all these things, a bastardisation of glam rock, soul, and that horrible FM pop they supposedly play on Californian radio stations or of the ilk used to soundtrack computer game 'Vice City'. To say 'What's Hideous?' is the sound of the Scissor Sisters being buttfucked by Motley Crue wouldn't be too wide of the mark.

However, to these ears DMBT sound like Skunk Anansie jamming with S Club 7. With this in mind, I really, really want to hate this but you can bet your bottom dollar that once the sun comes out again I'll be gryating my sweet, sweet ass to this record all summer long (baby).

Which leaves one final question: just what exactly is hideous: this record or my hairy arse? I think we all know the answer to that one don't you?
