Go For Blue

Label: Catskills Records Release Date: 30/07/2007

26240
TheBoyDeadly by TheBoyDeadly August 1st, 2007

Nice artwork. But what does 'Go For Blue' sound like? Like smiling, 27-year-old kids with lots of Friends and an excellent new pay-as-you-go tariff. Like playful cars playing hide and seek. Like gurning oafs with edgy haircuts; stiff nipples poking through _"rock n roll '77!" t-shirts wet from the water fight. Like cheap lager. Like dude, like guy. Like like, y'know. Like the young professional empathy demographic for the wipe-clean, fresh-slate, germ-free digital age.

I hate it. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it.

'Modish' is a hot-potato tossed around a lot by music writers today, but it's perfectly apt here. Modish, mod-ified, mod-like, mod-lite, mod-erate, mod-elled... . Pepe Deluxé may peddle old Carnaby lines but they've tailored this to the point of abstraction and extraction; where it will surely end-up, lost without context, whirling its Hammond and growling its rhetoric in an ad-break near you; somewhere. Wager _me_. I dare you.
