Seafood

Splinter

Label: Fierce Panda Release Date: 10/12/2001

1005
jwestfox by James Westfox December 7th, 2001

There's something fucking horrible about Seafood. Despite my Indie "roots" dictating that I should worship at their church of the fringe infested Sonic Youth tribute band, I utterly despise them. The fact they make terrible records, the fact their live shows are self-indulgent messes, the fact they've got stupid South Park style cartoons of themselves on their website AHHHHH!!

"Splinter", the second release from their "When Do We Start Fighting..." album, is a typical Pixies-ish abomination, with the good ol' driving beat, the good ol' "Intellectual" lyrics, the good ol' tiresome guitar line. It's SUCH a predictable, dull, passionless, pointless song. David Line's pretentious, out of tune, whiny, nasal, I'm-more-intelligent-than-Liam-Gallagher vocal frustrates me to rip my nails out of their beds.

Thankfully, the indie buzz that surrounded Seafood a few years back has now been passed on to far more worthy applicants. They had their chance, and they wasted it. Face it boys, and girl, you're crap. You're a no-ideas group. You're gagging to be Sonic Youth or the Pixies (You even cover one of their B-Sides on this single!!). You think your better than everyone else. You're never gonna get on Top Of The Pops, although you always say you like that cos Hey! that'd be giving into the pop machine, 'man'. You're a wholly dislikeable arrogant little band.

And I turn off XFM when you come on.

Therefore I hate you, cos I normally miss Tim Lovejoy being funny.
