Pinhole are the right age to play rock n roll. They love their tunes but they also love the rush of cranked guitars. Their debut single is a four track EP and comes stuffed with a live video, loads of photos, a video interview with the band and more…
Intro Track ‘City’, complete with puerile, simplistic vocals, and crashing guitar background, is a pleasant enough, half-energising track. ‘All Dried Up’, a jaunty mix of Madness and the La’s, harks back to Britpop’s best days, yet one gets slightly tired of it by half time. Track 3, ’11.50’, has a 60’s-esque Happy Days cum Beatles feel to it, and it’s endearing positive outlook warms me to it greatly. ‘Is This The End?’, finalises the proceedings, bringing a highly melodic piece of punk, with scratchy guitars and a tambourine. It’s lyrics, like the rest of the songs, are the only sticking point on this promising Scouse Foursome’s EP.
