DiS is 8 on tour presents... Shred Yr Face with Los Campesinos, only two weeks to go

DiS is 8 in October, and as well as the special one-off birthday events we've organised, remember that we've also got a package tour heading out around the UK to celebrate this landmark anniversary. It's not long now (two weeks in fact!) 'til the Shred Yr Face tour hits the road so without further ado, here's a quick reminder of what's in store:

- - -

Los Campesinos!

Fourteen-legged indie-pop phenomenon Los Campesinos! have been favourites at DiS ever since word of their cheery-with-a-cherry-on-top anti-anthems came to our attention via this site’s hugely active message boards. DiS has a weird motherly ain't-they-done-good pride to have seen them grow so big and we're giddy to have them headline this 'ere face shredding tour.

No Age

When the LA duo's debut album proper Nouns landed through our door we just sat there and let its lo-fi grunge-punk punch is repeatedly. It's subsequently bullied us into agreeing that it's one of the year’s essential releases. Nouns scored 9/10 here but live, Randy Randall and Dean Spunt live beyond their rock monikers and lurch 'n' blurt like the MC5 hijacking My Bloody Valentine. A new 7" is expected around the tour dates.

Times New Viking

Ohio’s shitgaze trio Times New Viking are responsible for this year’s Rip It Off LP, is a glorious lo-fi poppy-noize which got a 9/10 here. Be sure to be early to catch them.

And the dates are...

October

15 Liverpool Carling Academy 2 (£10; 0151 707 3200; tickets; all ages)

17 Dublin Whelans (13 euros; tickets; 18+)
18 Glasgow School of Arts (£10/12; tickets)

21 Bristol Fleece (£10; ; tickets; 18+)
22 Manchester Academy 3 (£10; ; tickets; 14+)

And there's more! If you get yourself down to one of the Coalition group of independent record stores (find your nearest here) and purchase a release by any of the three associated labels (Matador, Wichita and Sub Pop), you'll get a free 15 track sampler - five from each imprint. But that's not all! A limited 7" featuring a track from the three bands will also be available:

1. Los Campesinos! - 'Death to Los Campesinos! (Death To Napoleon III Remix)'
2. No Age - 'Revolving Credit for Kitty'
3. Times New Viking - 'Anything Could Happen'

Still not enough? A unique limited edition silk screened poster and exclusive T-shirt commemorating the tour by Seattle artist Carlos Ruiz will be available at the shows and at the shops. Phew. Not satisfied? You want some free instore performances as well!? Okay, here you go:

October
14 Brighton Resident - No Age
16 Leeds Crash - Times New Viking
19 London Pure Groove (3pm)
19 London Beyond Retro (5pm)
19 London Rough Trade East (7pm)
22 Manchester Picadilly - Los Campesinos!

There's three (count 'em!) for you lucky Londoners, but who's playing where in the capital? 'Tis a secret, for now. Check the tour mini-site for wristband information.

DiScuss: Which show are you off to? Got your tickets? Who are you most looking forward to seeing?
