Having been mightily impressed by Vendetta Red’s crazy and very destructive performance at Reading festival I was particularly chuffed to see this single exposing these perky yanks on a Virgin listening post last week.

Slip it on and first track _‘Three Chord Valentine’ _is immediately recognisable from their set at Reading, those guitar hooks slicing through a vocal line that brings to mind elements of Honeycrack. Closer inspection of the four tracks on offer here sees vocalist Zach adopting the fervidly passionate approach of *The Used *but all the time backed by that abrasively chirpy bounce.

Obviously being American gives Vendetta Red a head start above our home-grown hopefuls but this EP also shows Vendetta’s knack for writing the kind of pop-punk melodies that will latch onto you and draw you in whether you like it or not.
