Incredibly subtle and delicate, junkboy creates an amiable and pleasant way to drift off for hours whilst quietly letting your heart know it’s not being neglected. Deliciously lo-fi in it’s conception, ‘The Dynamics of Modern Communication’ softly grows on you as each new arrangement is surreptitiously smuggled into each track, leaving a smile emulating a placating sense of calm on a now seriously mellowed out listener.

Without relying on lyrical ingenuity, it’s still easy to appreciate the heart-rendering melodies played out on the acoustic guitars in the album. Along with the light jazz sax that slots laconically into tracks like ‘This Is Our Music’, which, feels thoroughly like a theme to clouds clearing from the sky, allowing the revivifying rays of sunlight to smile through. As does the gentle piano and softly phrased female voice of Francois in the song aptly titled ‘Francois Says’.

An absolute must for all those who appreciate a heartbeat fuelled calm quartet serenading them through each day, and the pleasures of soothing ambient atmospheres surrounding and enveloping the ear.

If you like soundtracks that are 'weird' or 'spaced out' get your cant words like 'chill out' at the ready, this is the album to sit back in your IKEA recliner and read some pulp fiction to. Hell, at the same time, it's good to dance to, on your modern wooden slatted floor whilst looking out onto the vista of a city before you.
