You had thought they had gone away but oh no, the 'sexiest all girl punk band_' from Yorkshire are back with another 5 track CD.
'Pretty In Punk' has the girls back in 2-3 chord action with those sickly sweet vocals but, unlike the debut, it looks like Amanda (vox and guitars) has sat down and actually TRIED to write a song and thought about the lyrics rather then drift semi-aimlesly. The result is a success telling a story the normal person (me mainly) can associate with about relationships (one of the few topical bases the girls do cover.)
'Nuclear Pussy' is next up and, according to song writer Becci it is about her sweet little kitten. Lyrics go as thus 'I can not wait forever to get you in my bed, my thoughts of you are better then any in my head'... come to your own conclusion ladies and gents!
Next track, 'Canadian Boyfriend' is very odd... it is almost soothing. A very mellow, floaty piece about a boyfriend returning from overseas. The girls need to be careful, the punk facade is slipping and if they are not careful, people may start to take them seriously!
Skiping fourth track 'Someone Far Away', the band close it all with the stuningly fantastic 'ABC Selecta'. Clocking in at 56 seconds long, the band go Jamaican ghetto rap stylee for their Bradford posse and as well as being funny as hell they drop in the phrase 'bling bling' and 'investment account' in the same line; credit where it is due, THAT is classy!
Musically, they haven't changed one bit from their 'Supersexy' mini album except they seem to have achieved something... notority! Their sleeve notes are full of praise and loathing hatred at the same time. This one you love or hate (Daphene & Celeste syndrome) in that you 'get it' or you don't. A breath of fresh air in a world thats losing it's head, a band that doesn't.
