El Spoonio

The Rest is Just Sand EP

Label:

holliy by holliy March 22nd, 2003

Ladies and gentlemen.. while your attention was elsewhere, four lads from Felixstowe have created the concept of "Medieval Pop-Rock" - a winning combination of winding rock riffs, half-growled vocals and fun.

This 3-plus-secret-track demo doesn't have the RAWK-factor of their live shows and could use a little less production, but it compensates well, with a delightful quirkiness and exhibiting blatant quality.

So yes: El Spoonio are A Good Thing. They have an absurd-yet-majestic name, a song called 'My religion is better than yours', which includes the line "I've got a big gun", and an elusive yet undeniably 'medieval' aspect.

And as if all this weren't enough to rate them as sheer class, they also cover S Club 7. Hurrah. Acquaint yourselves with them - you will be well rewarded for your effort.
