With nu-metal now thankfully shrivelling into a hole of self-deprecation and emo whimpering in its own ironic cliché, the UK seems ready to unleash a sound as compelling in its style as it is resolutely uncompromised in its attack. And with acts such as Aconite Thrill, Funeral For A Friend *and *Sikth rising steadily up the ranks it’s enough to make alcoholics of most A&R men eager to wine and dine the young purveyors of this new, distinctly British sound.

Emerging at an opportune time then, with such a refined blend of post-hardcore screamage and tender emo gushes it makes Days Ago **ripe for the picking. Although apparently recorded in shed, the two tracks here reek of potential, and with all the right ingredients present: a scathing scream, some intriguing melodicism and some competent musicianship, you can’t help but feel that by the time they come to record an EP properly at the end of this year they may well become a very enticing prospect indeed.
