Kill The Young

Addiction

Label: Discograph Release Date: 01/05/2006

Consisting of three brothers from Manchester, Kill The Young should be whetting the appetite for a war of the roses style battle against their arch nemesis The Cribs. Gorman v Jarman. Who’s your money on? After several plays of ‘Addiction’, I don’t think that Ryan, Gary and Ross have much to fear at present.

Sure, the title track is pleasant enough in a Bunnymen meets The Zombies round Darren Hayes’ voice coach’s mansion kinda way, but only manages to cause the odd ripple where predecessor ‘Origin Of Illness’ brought tidal waves and flare warnings at every juncture.

Flip over to the b-side and main singer of the Gorman clan Tom spits out the verbose “…too much crap on the radio, I’m bored and I’m not the only one” like an indie Nostradamus stating the bleedin’ obvious over a quirky, jerky hullabaloo of glissandi themed noise like Kevin the Teenager’s more musically eloquent elder brother. Sad thing is, you probably won’t get to hear it on the radio. Oh well, such is life...
