Power Down or die this Saturday March 1st!

citizenhelene [Edit] [Delete] 11:41, 29 February '08

Dear Heathens,

It is time yet again for Power Down to provide a night of debauchery that won't leave you cold with despair at the profligate (oh Monbiot, do come) waste of energy and resources that one might feel after a normal music night in the capital. Power Down IV is set for Saturday, March 1st, at 8pm, in the divine hall of the old converted church, the Islington Arts Factory, 2 Parkhurst Road, Holloway, London, N7 0PS.

The last PD, held just before Christmas, was bloody cold...and only the warmth of writhing human bodies under mistletoe, and some home-made organic mulled wine, provided us with a little comfort. If you'd like to see some photographs of the evening taken by the brilliant Joseph Lee, please visit this link www.flickr.com/powerdownordie

What a line-up we have for Power Down IV...all incredible voices and songs...here it is:

A.Human
Dirty strange deranged electronic group, just off tour with Art Brut, about to alight with the Infadels. Released their first single a few months ago, A Horse With No Name, yes of course you know it.

Sara Mitra
Operatic she-devil turned sultry jazz singer, a tongue laced with opiates, and habituated you will become.

Citizen Helene
Melodramatic pop songs gilded in humour and sadness, with themes spanning from Ike and Tina Turner to...sodomy, accompanied by her 3 gorgeous female backing singers...The Racists.

Josephine Oniyama
All the way from Manchester (by train), a pearl of the north, with a growl reminiscent of Odetta, and the tenderness of Desree. Possibly joined on piano, by a very special guest...though quite how someone could be more special than Josephine, is beyond belief.

The usual set-up will remain, candles made by myself, using recycled vegetable oil from the local chip shop, mixed with redundant wax. Eco beverages a plenty, at reasonable prices - and organic Burmese food!

Please see this innovative flyer below, designed by Tom The Pen http://www.tomthepen.com/ completely by hand...no electricity was involved in the creation of the flyer...though a fair amount of biro ink was...eek. Talk to him about the ingredients of that!

Please forward this to anyone who would be interested. Hope to see you there.
