Last Windmill Sunday BBQ of the year...this Sunday

twistedlounge [Edit] [Delete] 16:34, 26 September '08

Starts 5pm; only a fiver in, with free BBQ at 5pm.

Here's the line-up:

ME MY HEAD (London)
...create a sound hungry for big stages, echoing elements of new wave romantics, lonely space travellers, love lost, ice cold pop and the thunder of a house falling down.
This is the end of tour party to celebrate the release of debut single 'Damage Is Done'

SCREAMING TEA PARTY (London)
When we asked the Windmill mailing list who they'd like to see at the Last BBQ party, the number one choice was these Japanese noise-pop entertainers par excellence. Not much more to add really!

PW LONG (Detroit, MI)
We found out a few weeks ago that he is currently staying in London, and after last week's great gig with Mick Turner of Dirty Three we just had to have him back asap and this party seemed the ideal excuse.
PW started off his musical trip in 1989 with Wig, then went onto to form the behomthic MULE and in the late Nineties with PW Long's Reelfoot. This century he's concentrated on putting out solo albums which still retain the edge and menace of his previous bands.

THE BRIDPORT DAGGER (London)
South London's own bassless flamencobilly/garage-folk trio, specializing in short, echo-y blasts of glorious noise. Now signed to Death records.

THE LAST ARMY (London)
Late addition and one that rounds of the party perfect are this swoonsome popwave quintet who are creating a right old buzz at the moment. They've just recorded a cover of Je t’aime (moi non plus) and it works too, and in June their first single 'Dead' (self-release, no budget, digital only) was championed by Steve Lamacq, Tom Robinson and Gideon Coe on 6 Music.

YEAH SPARROW (Brixton)
Campfire songs given a twist via Motown and unpredictable rhythms.
