i might be looking back with rose-tinted spectacles, but it never used to be this bad. I mean, there was still shit but there were some engrossing and deep conversations and arguments going on. Scan the front page now and tell me you see any thought-provoking conversations going on. And i'm not talking about "favourite bands with a tall girl and a guy with a beard" or "best songs to pick your toenails to" discussions, by far the most heavily posted in types of thread. Apart from that you've got masses of "anybody going to this gig?" ones which are niche at best, as well as a few youtube clips which are from the "look what i've found, watch with me to validate my tastes" category. And this stuff is by no means limited to the front page.

Have we really not got anything better to talk about? Have we extinguished every possible conversational topic? Or are people just scared of having controversial points of view for fear of being shot down ruthlessly by the bigger boys? Maybe everyone else is just as disenchanted as me.. Please tell me its not just me who thinks this?
