Bands who put you off due to plumming about on stage

grockle [Edit] [Delete] 15:05, 22 June '07

Last night I saw a couple of bands at the Goethe Institute, just up the road from the science museum.

The Bishops were on first, and I quite enjoyed the music, they have a garagey vibe about them, and the bassist and guitarist do great harmonies...i enjoyed their set more than 90% of bands I see. BUT, and this is a HUGE BUTT, the lead singer was gurning and mugging so much on stage that it just reduced their entire set to a bit of a farce, kinda like they were trying to be a joke band or something...very very odd, and it somehow reminded me of Dr Who and the Sea Devils

The other group- Irrepressibles- I listened to for a good twenty minutes, being fairly blown away by the arrangements, if not the operatic vocals. In the end I was enjoying it so much from a distance I had to go and watch...and was utterly, utterly horrified to find that they'd managed to reduce their performance to a stupid pantomime by wearing stupid costumes and getting the clarinettist etc to perform set moves to the music.

Am I wrong in being horrified by this pair of spectacles?
